Jane Webb D'Arista has died. The world has lost a prominent economist and expert in international financial regulation, monetary policy, and financial systems. For two decades, she rendered distinguished public service as a staff economist for the Banking and Commerce Committees of the U.S. House of Representatives and worked as a principal analyst in the international division of the Congressional Budget Office. A longtime research associate at the Political Economy Research Institute (PERI) at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and an instructor of international finance at the Boston University School of Law, she made enduring contributions to the field of macroeconomics, notably authoring her two-volume work, *The Evolution of U.S. Finance*. Beyond her financial and public policy career, Jane was married to Robert d'Arista, an influential artist and educator who taught at American University and Boston University until his death in 1987. Throughout her later years, she devoted significant care to preserving and promoting her husband's artistic legacy, safeguarding his original collection, providing photographic and historical archives, and collaborating with institutions like the Washington Studio School and the Katzen Arts Center to support exhibitions honoring his work and educational impact. Anyone who has an original D'Arista that is not currently on this site or if you would like to receive emails regarding D'Arista information, please email this address.
